چکیده
The family Potamotrygonidae are the only species of stingrays restricted to fresh water and located exclusively in South America. objective this research was analyze morphological aspects germ cells male reproductive tract Potamotrygon amandae. samples were fixed 10% formalin, then dehydrated an ascending ethanol series (70 100%). To carry out light microscopy analyses, they embedded paraffin, cut stained; as for scanning electron dried, glued metallic bases metalized. gross morphology consisted following paired organs: testis, epididymis, deferent duct, Leydig gland, seminal vesicle, clasper, clasper gland. Microscopically, several stages spermatogenesis observed occurring spherical follicles, similar other stingrays. epididymis formed by one duct subdivided various tubules. ducts continuous with lumen full spermatozoa. glands glandular units eosinophilic content some, ran parallel ventral portion. vesicles possessed numerous compartments store sperm, a wall hive, Alcian Blue (AB) Periodic Schiff-Acid (PAS) performed Gland, deferens vesicle positive connective tissue, cilia PAS+ nuclei stained weakly AB. gland composed unit covered striated muscle externally. It very well Schiff-Acid. amandae

15 صفحه اولPrimordial germ cells migration: morphological and molecular aspects
Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are germline stem cells that give rise to gametes in vertebrates. They originate outside the embryo very early in development and migrate by a well-defined route into the genital ridges. During early embryogenesis in mammals, the PGCs are observed in an extra-embryonic region near the yolk sac, translocate to the endodermal epithelium of the hindgut as embryogenesis...
متن کاملEcology of endoparasites of the fluvial stingray Potamotrygon falkneri (Chondrichthyes: Potamotrygonidae) from the upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil.
The present study investigated the ecological relationships between endoparasites and the host Potamotrygon falkneri from the upper Paraná River by using as indicators the host's relative condition factor (Kn), sex and hepatosomatic relation (HSR). Forty-seven specimens of P. falkneri were analyzed between March 2005 and September 2006. Statistical analysis showed that the Kn was positively cor...
متن کاملPotamotrygon limai, sp. nov., a new species of freshwater stingray from the upper Madeira River system, Amazon basin (Chondrichthyes: Potamotrygonidae).
Potamotrygon limai, sp. nov., is described from the Jamari River, upper Madeira River system (Amazon basin), state of Rondônia, Brazil. This new species differs from congeners by presenting unique polygonal or concentric patterns formed by small whitish spots better defined over the posterior disc and tail-base regions. Potamotrygon limai, sp. nov., can be further distinguished from congeners i...
متن کاملA Severe Accident Caused by an Ocellate River Stingray (Potamotrygon motoro) in Central Brazil: How Well Do We Really Understand Stingray Venom Chemistry, Envenomation, and Therapeutics?
Freshwater stingrays cause many serious human injuries, but identification of the offending species is uncommon. The present case involved a large freshwater stingray, Potamotrygon motoro (Chondrichthyes: Potamotrygonidae), in the Araguaia River in Tocantins, Brazil. Appropriate first aid was administered within ~15 min, except that an ice pack was applied. Analgesics provided no pain relief, a...
